Project Outline

The Swifts Creek Future project was developed when Swifts Creek was one of eleven towns nominated to receive funding for a Local Development Strategy under the Forestry Transition Program to support workers, businesses and communities transitioning away from native timber harvesting. The Local Development Strategy Project works with the community, inviting participation from all members of the community, to identify strengths and innovations for the region to diversify and grow to support economic and social benefits for a sustainable future. The project is supported by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, RMIT, East Gippsland Shire and led by the Swifts Creek and District Community Reference Group.

The project is driven by the Swifts Creek Community Reference Group (SCCRG)

Through collaboration and innovative thinking a community working for the community supports sustainability.
